INE reinforces measures against measles outbreak

In the event of a case of measles infection among its staff, the National Electoral Institute (INE) will return to the use of face masks in common areas, application of antibacterial gel in the facilities, and plans vaccination days, as well as the possibility of adopting the “home office” and other measures, in order to contain the spread of the disease.

Through an official statement, the institute reported that these actions respond to the call of the national health authorities in the face of the current epidemic of this viral disease, which registers a transmission rate of between 90% and 95% in people who do not have vaccination.

Contingency and vaccination plan

After detecting a contagion, which the institute classified as “isolated”, the INE escalated its prevention levels. On February 19, an internal vaccination day will be held at the Tlalpan complex, focused on personnel 49 years of age or younger who must complete their immunization schedule.

This measure is added to the campaigns already implemented in states with higher risk, such as Chihuahua and Jalisco. In addition, the institute will implement a remote work scheme for the next five days. Under this modality, only personnel with strictly face-to-face functions will go to the offices, while the rest of the workforce will carry out their work via home office, this, only at the Tlalpan headquarters.

Monitoring and rules in facilities

To avoid crowding, a census will be intensified in all areas for the timely detection of symptoms and the immediate referral of suspected cases for medical evaluation. The rules of coexistence within the properties include:

Mandatory use of face masks in closed spaces and common areas.

Application of antibacterial gel upon entry and exit.

Restricting physical contact and encouraging adequate ventilation.

The INE stressed that, although so far there is no record of new internal cases, these measures are strictly preventive in nature to ensure the well-being of the workers and citizens who come to its facilities.
