Mexico City. Mexican actor Demián Bichir reported that his nephew, José Ángel Bichir suffered “a deep crisis” which caused him to fall from a window, and that he is out of danger.

Through a statement published on social networks, the Mexican actor commented that it was not a conscious decision, but rather an accident caused by a mental health crisis.

“José Ángel was not drunk. José Ángel did not want to harm himself. José Ángel became ill. And in his illness, he fell. Today, more than ever, we need as a society to understand that the health of the mind is a fundamental part of our overall health,” he expressed.

He said that a person who is going through a deep emotional crisis is not a danger or lost.

“He is surrounded by his family, who has not let him go for a second. And in the midst of this pain, we are infinitely grateful to all the people who have written to us with genuine concern. No one is exempt from going through an emotional storm.”

He announced that his family will withdraw from the public spotlight to accompany José Ángel in his recovery.
