Within the framework of the 24th Vaccination Week in the Americas (VAW) and World Immunization Week 2026, the Ministry of Health (Ssa) announced the realization of the National Vaccination Week 2026under the motto “Vaccinating is loving”which will take place from April 25 to May 2, 2026 throughout the national territory, as part of the priority actions for the prevention, control and elimination of diseases.

Through a statement, he explained that the intensive day aims to strengthen the Universal Vaccination Program through the recovery of incomplete schemes and the increase in coverage, especially for girls, boys, adolescents, adults, pregnant people, older adults and groups at risk.

He explained that during this week the application free of all vaccines included in the national scheme, including:

• -BCG and Hepatitis B for newborns.
• -Acellular hexavalent, conjugated pneumococcal, rotavirus, for children under one year of age.
• -Triple viral (measles, rubella and mumps), acellular hexavalent, conjugated pneumococcal and hepatitis A in early childhood.
• -DPT (diphtheria, whooping cough and tetanus) as a booster in the child population.
• -HPV (Human Papillomavirus) in girls and boys in the 5th year of primary school and 11 years old out of school, adolescents and people from 11 to 49 years old living with HIV and women from 9 to 19 years old in a care protocol for sexual rape.
• -Td and Tdpa (tetanus, diphtheria and whooping cough) in adolescents, adults, pregnant women and health personnel.
• -Seasonal influenza and COVID-19 girls and boys under 5 years of age, at-risk population, health personnel and older adults.
• -Pneumococcus for people over 60 years of age.

In this sense, he highlighted that the application will be carried out in health unitssemi-fixed posts in high-traffic spaces and through mobile brigades that will bring services closer to rural communities, areas with difficult access and areas with a lag in vaccination.

He added that community strategies such as house-to-house visits, review of National Health Cards and awareness campaigns, with the purpose of promoting timely vaccination and protecting the population against preventable diseases.

Given this, the agency called on the population to go to their nearest health unit and complete their vaccination schedules, reminding them that vaccines are safe, free and one of the most effective tools to care for individual and collective health.

“The coordinated participation of the institutions of the sector health and citizens will be essential to achieve the national goal and advance in the protection of the health of all,” he said.
