McLaren celebrates its 1000th F1 Grand Prix in Monaco with a special livery

The McLaren Formula 1 team has presented a special livery for the upcoming Monaco and Barcelona Grands Prix to mark its 1,000th Grand Prix milestone.

This weekend’s Monaco test will be McLaren’s 1,000th in F1, and will be held at exactly the same circuit where it debuted in 1966 with its founder, Bruce McLaren.

To commemorate the occasion, McLaren will debut a custom livery in papaya orange metallic and anthracite, with the number 1000 adorning the side pod of the MCL40. The decoration will also be used in the subsequent Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix.

“Throughout the livery there are nods to our rich history with hidden details recognizing important milestones, from our first race, victories and championship titles to the Triple Crown and our world record pit stop,” McLaren said. “Both drivers will also wear special suits, which echo the design language of the car.

The decoration symbolizes the message that McLaren never gives up. As the team approaches the milestone of the 1000th Grand Prix, it highlights the stories and work that has been necessary to reach this anniversary, highlighting moments when the team not only succeeded, but also the challenges they faced and how they emerged stronger from them.”

On Thursday, the team will display its first F1 car, the McLaren M2B, alongside its current car, in the presence of CEO Zak Brown, team principal Andrea Stella and drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, who will be joined by McLaren Grand Prix winners from all eras.

“Lineing up on the grid for McLaren’s 1,000th Grand Prix in Monaco this year provides us with a perfect opportunity to recognize our rich history in motorsport,” said Brown. “We are only the second team to reach this incredible milestone, so what better time to reflect on our past, our present and our future.”
