In the last few hours, it was confirmed that all the members of the musical band Van Der Dijs are among the fatal victims of the devastating earthquakes of magnitude 7.2 and 7.5, which occurred on June 24 in Venezuela.
“The CCAM Cultural Center of Modern Art joins the mourning that is gripping the country’s music sector and, especially, the emerging Rock scene, due to the death of the members of the Van Der Dijs group: Manuel van Der Dijs (Vocalist), Gabriel Gómez (Guitar), Xander Hernández (Bass) and Abraham Foucault (Drums),” the entity expressed.
The group was part of the emerging rock scene in Venezuela and performed concerts in different regions of their country. Their last presentation was on June 19 at the CCAM and the next one was scheduled for June 27 in Punto Fijo, a city in the state of Falcón.
The Center highlighted the dedication and passion that the four members had for music during their presentation at the venue’s facilities just a week ago, when they were invited to play in the concert series titled El Hades, in Caracas.
Van Der Dijs’ sound proposal was characterized by a fusion between rap-rock and nu-metal. The band had only been formed for two years, but it had already gained notable popularity in the country. One of the milestones that consolidated his career was his outstanding participation in the renowned New Bands Festival.
“Today, we extend our condolences to the family, friends and followers of these young and outstanding artists. Their talent and, above all, their overflowing energy, their sympathy and their desire to leave their mark on the stage with their music remain in the history of the CCAM,” the Center stated.
