Through a statement, Liga MX shared that the Celestes will not be able to play their first home game at the property in the Noche Buena neighborhood.
“In follow-up to Cruz Azul’s request to play its home games at the Ciudad de los Deportes Stadium. As part of the authorization process, an inspection of the playing field was carried out, which determined that it currently does not comply with the regulatory conditions to guarantee the physical integrity of the players and the refereeing body.”

“As a result of the above, a work plan was established in conjunction with Cruz Azul and those responsible for the property so that the field complies with the parameters established in the pitch protocol and competition regulations.”
