We already know the first vehicle of the resurrected Santana Motors

As we already told you, Santana Motors will return to the market at the end of the year and will do so with a formula practically identical to that of EBRO: association with a Chinese manufacturer (in this case, Zhengzhou Nissan) to provide it with vehicles and manufacture them at the Linares (Jaén) plant.

What will be your first model? Apparently, as reported by other media outlets such as Coches.net and El Español, it is the Nissan Frontier Pro plug-in hybrid pick-up, unveiled last April at the Shanghai show. Below, you can meet him in photos. In principle, it will be completely the same, but with the Santana logo on the front.

More than 400 HP and label 0

This double cabin truck measures 5,520 mm in length, 1,960 in width and 1,950 in height. The wheelbase is 3,300 mm, while the weight varies from 2,500 to 2,540 kg, depending on the configuration chosen. All versions have 18-inch wheels with 265/65 tires.

The powertrain is made up of a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine plus an electric unit located in the transmission, which provides a combined power of more than 400 HP and no less than 800 Nm of maximum torque.

The battery, whose capacity has not been revealed (nor its chemistry), provides an electric range of 135 km, but in the Chinese CLTC approval cycle. That means that with WLTP rules, that distance will be noticeably shorter, even below 100 km. In any case, label 0 is guaranteed.

With reducer, but without rigid rear axle

In addition to having the Pure Electric, Hybrid, Snow and Performance driving programs, the Frontier Pro enjoys all-wheel drive with reduction gear (4Low), as well as an electronically locking rear differential. Of course, the rear axle does not consist of a rigid axle to support heavy loads, but rather there is an independent multi-link scheme. In the vehicle’s technical data sheet, the load capacity does not appear.

The Chinese-Spanish pick-up (if I may qualify) has 23.1 cm of ground clearance, 30º angle of attack and 25º departure angle. Of course, the braking system is made up of four discs. Likewise, the vehicle has the Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) function, to power external devices through a socket in the body with a maximum power of 6 kW.

Lastly, the interior comes with a large 14.6-inch central touchscreen and a 10-inch digital instrumentation. Optionally, the front seats can be heated and ventilated, in addition to including a massage function.

The Nissan Frontier Pro is derived from the Dongfeng Z9 which, curiously, has an interesting 190 HP turbodiesel engine, but it does not seem that Santana Motors is going to resort to that diesel engine even though it would be quite interesting for its truck.
