Every year we met to take a look at what the prolific science fiction and fantasy writer told us in his annual summary, and the film and television adaptations of his works were almost always a continuous disappointment. Almost agreements, closed castings that end without official announcement and prepared sets that ultimately do not host filming was the trend for Brandon Sanderson. But that is the past; Brandon Sanderson has reached an agreement with Apple TV to sell the coveted rights to their literary creations.
Through an exclusive from the renowned media The Hollywood Reporter that Sanderson himself has shared on his social networks, an agreement with hardly any precedent in the world of audiovisuals is confirmed. Apple TV would have closed a contract to acquire the rights to the Cosmerethe American author’s fantasy universe, for an amount that has not been disclosed.
As explained in THR, Sanderson would have met with almost all the heads of Hollywood studios and has ended up reaching an agreement that assures him something above what George RR Martin has with HBO: authorship of the script, role of producer and consulting role in the execution; all this with true decision-making capacityas reported.
Although we may think that the specific content based on the Cosmere is a few years away, it seems that the plans are advanced, since it is reported that the idea is to create a series adaptation for his magnum opus, The Storm Archivebut also several films about mistbornhis other great saga. The first of them even already has one of its production companies: Blue Marble, a regular Apple TV collaborator in series like Pachinko.

In his last YouTube video, barely two minutes long, Brandon Sanderson commented that he would be in Hollywood carrying out some actions, but he did not aim to be something so quick: “Catch-up meetings, things like that, there is nothing big to announce other than that I am trying to move forward and write for various intellectual properties that we are working on.”
