The Cadillac team closed its first official Formula 1 tests with ups and downs, with Sergio Pérez having the honor of the Friday afternoon shift completing more than 60 laps and race simulations in Bahrain.
After three intense days, the American team demonstrated that their project is advancing steadily, accumulating more than 1,700 kilometers of filming.
Sergio “Checo” Pérez was in charge of closing this week of activity, consolidating the progress made previously in the Barcelona shakedown. Together with his teammate Valtteri Bottas, the Mexican managed to complete more than 320 total laps, focusing mainly on energy management, tire behavior and, crucially, race simulations that provide vital data for the debut at the Australian Grand Prix on March 8.
“Incredible” progress: The balance of Checo Pérez
For the Mexican driver, these sessions have been essential to understand the DNA of his new car. “It has been a really positive test, with many learnings in all areas. The progress is incredible,” said Pérez after getting out of the car and finishing in 14th position.
Despite the technical challenges that a new team entails, “Checo” highlighted the harmony that is felt in the garage: “There are still things to improve, of course, but in general we are moving forward, uniting as a team and enjoying getting the most out of the car and ourselves.”
Graeme Lowdon, team director, did not hide his satisfaction with the reliability shown despite the problems on Thursday and Friday, highlighting that the distance traveled is equivalent to more than five Grand Prix.
“The data this gives us as a new team is invaluable,” Lowdon explained. “Not only to find balance and performance, but also to integrate as an efficient team unit.”
With just three days of testing remaining next week, Cadillac will now focus on perfecting racing procedures and extracting maximum raw performance.
