Mexico City. Geely prepared a test drive at the Pegaso Dynamic Center so we could get our hands behind the wheel of the EX2, its new all-electric car. This is how we learned about the driving sensations of this hatchback that aims to take over the coveted and largest slice of the market share pie in this segment.
Although BYD Dolphin Mini is the car that boasts the most abundant sales in Mexico among fully electrified cars, it is important to highlight that although the Chinese brand does not report figures to the INEGI, it is true that more examples of this electric car are seen on the streets of the country every day.
However, Geely found an area of opportunity in this market segment, and brought the best-selling electric vehicle in China to Mexico during 2025, betting that it can become the best-seller of electric vehicles in our country.
The arguments with which Geely supports this commercial offensive are based on an extremely competitive price, which, given the characteristics of EX2, balances the cost-benefit relationship to such a degree that it can be considered one of the best options, if not the best of them, as an alternative to an entry-level electric car.
Starting from the design, the balance of shapes is well balanced and is soft and pleasant to the eye, at the same time it has a wheelbase and a total width, which contributes in aesthetic terms, as well as in its performance, since aided by the weight of the battery on the floor of the car, it lowers the center of gravity and helps to give a feeling of outstanding stability.
The fact that EX2 is rear-wheel drive and has the electric motor on the rear axle, allows the weight distribution to be 50 and 50 percent front and rear. The electric block develops a power of 114 horsepower, and the immediate torque is 110 pound-feet.
It has three driving modes, Eco, Comfort, and Sport, since the battery bank has a capacity of 40.8 kWh, if driven carefully in Eco mode, it can reach a range of 395 kilometers according to the technical sheet.
The interior is equipped with a digital instrument panel and a 14.6-inch infotainment screen compatible with wireless Apple CarPlay. It has a sound system developed by one of the Geely Holding Group subsidiaries, which has 6 speakers in the top-of-the-range version, while the entry version has 4 of them.
For short maneuvers, the most equipped version has a 360o camera, while in the safety section, it is equipped with driving assistance (ADAS), such as adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, stability control, braking assistance, and ABS brakes, in addition to 6 airbags as standard. LED lighting with automatic lights on.
In the track experience we were able to test practically all the EX2’s features in controlled conditions, driving on cone layouts that allowed us to know its performance even in simulated conditions of emergency maneuvers.
In conclusion, EX2 is a fully electric vehicle with efficient behavior in situations such as evasive maneuvers on wet surfaces at speeds of up to 75 km/h, controlled over-rolling in slalom tests, as well as precise braking in the event of an emergency stop. ADAS work effectively in every situation where they should intervene.
Finally, one of the strongest arguments that underpins Geely’s commercial offensive with EX2 stands out: its prices are 374,900 MXN for the GL version, while the GF has a cost of 404,900 MXN.
