The new Mazda CX-5 2026 represents a turning point for the Japanese brand, as it lacks a manual transmission, the interior integrates a huge central screen, physical controls are renounced, manufacturing quality is lowered somewhat, it is more comfortable than before and costs like a Chinese SUV.

Yes, Mazda makes its compact SUV more affordable than ever, which, by the way, has grown to 4.69 meters, so it is also looking at rivals in the D segment, despite lacking seven seats. Its offer in force from the beginning of marketing will surely attract many customers in Spain.

Not in vain, rivals such as the Toyota RAV4 or the Volkswagen Tiguan are clearly more expensive (especially the Japanese representative) and their access rate makes us look at rivals such as the JAECOO 7, the Omoda 7, the EBRO s800 or the MG HS. Who would have thought this a few years ago when talking about a Mazda!

The Eco label is not missing

Initially, the only engine available is the well-known light hybrid gasoline 2.5 e-SKYACTIV G with 141 HP, which lacks turbocharging and is associated with an automatic transmission with torque converter and six speeds, with the possibility of sequential control with paddles. Three of the four finishes in the range can be linked not only to front-wheel drive, but also to all-wheel drive (+2,000 euros). A hybrid version will arrive in 2027 based on the new SKYACTIV Z mechanics.

The performance is correct for a family SUV: 0 to 100 in 10.5 seconds and a maximum speed of 187 km/h. The approved average consumption is established at 7 liters per 100 km, so it is normal to see figures of 8/8.5 liters on the on-board computer. By having electrical support, the SUV enjoys the Eco label.

The Prime Line access finish already comes well equipped: dual-zone automatic climate control, 10.25-inch digital instrumentation, 12.9-inch central screen, compatibility with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay (wired) or Google services.

For 4,205 euros less

Also worth noting are the LED headlights, 17-inch wheels, rear camera, driver’s seat with eight-way adjustment, blind spot monitoring and traffic sign recognition. In the practical section, the rear seats are excellent and the large trunk reaches 583 liters, no less.
