Cowboys select Jaishawn Barham in the third round of the 2026 NFL Draft

Barham is an American football player, period. What does that mean? That sometimes you’ll see him playing inside linebacker and other times lined up to pressure from the edge as outside linebacker in Dallas. Barham began his career at Michigan as a Freshman All-American and ended up being a four-year starter for the Wolverines. In high school, at St. Frances Academy in Baltimore, he was the 10th-ranked linebacker in the country. Leading all freshmen in the nation in tackles in his first year is proof of one of his main strengths: making tackles.

Barham had an increase in missed tackles in 2025, but in previous seasons he hardly missed (it could be due to several reasons, but it was an outlier year in that regard). As for rushing the passer, when Michigan moved him to the outside last season, he recorded 10 tackles for loss, four sacks and 21 pressures in 12 games. Diagnose plays quickly and react quickly to stop them. Violent hands. First step, explosive. Solid coverage, although needs work at inside linebacker. Flexibility (bend) is above average as an outside linebacker. Elite experience. Football IQ is high (Academic All-Big Ten selection).

At 22 years old, he was the best EDGE player on my board when the Cowboys picked 92nd overall. His physique will need to gain some more mass to be more effective against the edge rush, but there is very good potential for Barham to make an impact from his rookie year. As an additional fact, he is the first Michigan player selected in the third round since Jourdan Lewis, and both were chosen at pick 92 (curious).
