When it is said that “when the river sounds, it is because it carries water”, it is for a reason. Over the last few weeks it has been very strongly rumored that Nintendo was preparing a new video game. Star Fox that would be announced sooner or later and has finally come true. What no one expected is that it would happen through a surprise Nintendo Direct which was issued this morning without any prior notice.

Shigeru Miyamoto has come on stage to remember that Fox is making an appearance in the Super Mario Galaxy movie and now we know that he had a compelling reason. The big N has developed a new installment of the saga that, in reality, is not a completely unpublished title, since it is a remake from the legendary Star Fox 64 of Nintendo 64.

Also known as Lylat Wars in Europe will come back to life almost 30 years later with an immense facelift and with an amazing appearance by opting for a more cinematic and realistic graphic touch exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2. Both the characters, levels, enemies, effects, etc., have been renewed from top to bottom, to which new voices are added for the different protagonists and villains. What’s more, here we can listen to them with voices in Spanish.

What for many is the best title in the saga will return preserving each and every one of its phaseswith the same hordes of enemies, final bosses and various secrets. This will also affect the gameplay, since in them you will have to pilot the Arwing as it moves automatically while the players dedicate themselves to dodging impacts and crushing everything that moves on the screen as Fox McCloud.

Our anthropomorphic fox will not be alone in this dangerous mission to save the Lylat System, which is under siege by the mad scientist Andross. The pilots Falco Lombardi, Slippy Toad and Peppy Hare will accompany you at all times through each of the different phases, including some in which you can also pilot the Landmaster tank and the Blue-Marine submarine.

Throughout the campaign, different planets will be visited, with Corneria always being the starting point. From there, depending on the objectives and secret alternative routes that are discovered, the destination will change and you can head to places such as Fichina, Solar, Titania, Macbeth, Sector Y, among others, until you reach Zoness to fight the final battle. Of course, imposing final bosses and all kinds of challenges will await along the way.

What news we will see on Star Fox

To make this remake more essential a long list of surprises have been incorporatedstarting with a large number of cinematics never seen before. These will serve to get to know the various characters better and add a layer of greater depth to the plot, maintaining that realistic touch at all times, which will also mean that the original conversations and phrases have been renewed for the occasion.

Players can choose three difficulty levels: easy, normal and expert. In the case of the first, the ship will have more life than normal and the laser shot will always be at maximum power. On the other hand, in expert mode the enemies will cause more damage, but above all you will have to be careful with collisions, as these will cause the ship’s wings to be destroyed instantly, which will cause the control of the ship to worsen and the damage of the shot to weaken drastically.

To provide greater replayability to the game A Challenge mode will be incorporated. It will be a good way to repeat the phases that have already been completed, but this time to carry out different tasks, such as defeating certain enemies or doing it in a specific way. In addition, it will also be possible to opt for a new multiplayer mode with four-on-four battles in which the Star Fox team will face off against the Star Wolf team in three scenarios with their own rules:

• Corneria: It will consist of eliminating opponents and taking control of the area around some satellite towers.
• Fichina: Here you will have to collect as many energy cores as possible as possible while meteorites do not stop falling from the sky.
• Sector Y: The objective will be to recover the cargo that has been stolen by pirates and take it to the base in a hurry.

Online multiplayer will allow you to participate with friends in private games or against anyone in the world, while local multiplayer will only require a single copy for others to connect thanks to the GameShare function. On the other hand, with GameChat everyone will be able to change their real faces with those of the game characters, as if they were a V-Tuber, since they will perform exactly the same gestures as those of the players.

In another order of things, the gameplay will allow you to use mouse modewhich will change the view of the ship to first-person, but it will also be possible to opt for a two-player mode. In this case, one will handle a Joy-Con 2 to pilot the ship, while the second player will be in charge of shooting with the mouse mode of the other Joy-Con 2. A way to make the experience more entertaining and interactive.

And the best of all is that Star Fox is just around the corner, because it will be the June 25 when it will go on sale on Nintendo Switch 2. So there is nothing left for Fox and company to return through the front door with what is undoubtedly one of their best adventures thanks to this remake that aims to be one of Nintendo’s best assets for this summer.
