Through the Intelligence, Cyber ​​Investigation and Technological Operations Unit, the SSPC warned that during this season fraud attempts by cybercriminals also increase, who take advantage of the high flow of users to deceive through false pages, non-existent promotions and theft of bank details.

Among the most common practices detected are websites that imitate official stores, fraudulent profiles on social networks, SMS messages and emails with malicious links, as well as offers with excessively low prices to attract victims.

The SSPC noted that cases of phishing, direct transfer payment requests and the use of false QR codes that redirect to fraudulent pages have also been identified.

To reduce risks, the authorities recommended verifying that web addresses are authentic and do not contain spelling errors, in addition to distrusting promotions “too good to be true.”

They also asked to avoid opening suspicious links sent by messages or social networks without first checking their origin, as well as to review comments and opinions about online stores before making any purchase.

Another recommendation is to use secure payment methods, such as digital cards with temporary keys or dynamic security mechanisms, which help protect banking information.

The agency also urged not to share passwords, PINs or verification codes, activate two-step authentication and keep receipts, screenshots and emails related to purchases made.
