What makes the public really connect with an artist? What is the secret of that invisible but wonderful bond that occurs when we see a singer on stage and everyone in attendance seems to be on the same channel? A few years ago, my answer would have been simpler, I would have thought that it is just a matter of taste. Maybe it’s a little bit of that, but after seeing Cazzu live at the National Auditorium in Mexico CityI can say that an artist—in every sense of the word—is not someone who only creates sounds and lyrics that people empathize with, rather, he is someone who makes you connect with his experiences, especially when he is brave enough to reveal himself to his audience.
I went to see the Argentine interpreter with my mother, she approached her music as a result of her most recent project, Latinagereleased in April of this year. The album is a compendium of musical genres typical of Latin America, it was not difficult for my mother to become interested in the catchy rhythm of cumbia in with anotheror by the painful lyrics of The cave.
There was a very tender curiosity in my mother’s eyes as we walked towards our seats.
