Earthquake in ESPN Mexico: their high executive command is fired

This afternoon there was a strong rearrangement within ESPN Mexico, after the dismissal of Armando Benítez, who served as the network’s main executive in the country and considered “the strong man” of the sports television station.

Close sources confirmed that along with Benítez, Yoyotzin Zúñiga, Manuel Cerdeira and previously Alan Navarrete were also dismissed, all members of the so-called “upper floor” of the ESPN México organizational chart.

According to unofficial versions, personnel from the legal area went to the facilities that same day to formalize the departures, which would have generated surprise and tension among the rest of the team.

Armando Benítez maintained a close working relationship with José Ramón Fernández (@joserra_espn), a historical figure in sports journalism, which accentuates the impact of his departure.

Speculation is already circulating on social networks about an internal restructuring promoted by Argentine directors of the network, although so far ESPN has not issued an official position on the layoffs or on the direction that the management of the television station will take in Mexico.
