Henry Cavill looks spectacular in the first images of the reboot of The Immortals

Henry Cavill has published the first images of his character in The Immortals reboot.

And yes, that’s Cavill looking brooding while wielding a sword, bringing back memories of his role as Geralt of Rivia in the series The Witcher from Netflix. Cavill left the series and was also unable to resume his role as superman in James Gunn’s new DCU. Now, David Corenswet is the actor in charge of playing the superhero.

“Happy first look at Highlander!” Cavill captioned the photos. “It has been quite an adventure for me, which I will tell you about when the time is rightbut it is a special moment to be able to share this. I hope you enjoy it.”

When Cavill referred to Highlander as “quite a journey,” he could be alluding to a leg injury he suffered last year while training for the film, which delayed production until early 2026.

The new film of Los Inmortales, directed by Chad Stahelskidirector of John Wick, is set in the distant future beyond present-day New York and Hong Kong, with Cavill playing a master swordsman who has been alive more than 500 years and that he has trained in all types of martial arts throughout his life.

The Immortals films and television series revolve around an ancient war between immortal warriors who They can only be killed by decapitation. The 1986 cult film, which marked the debut of the saga, starred Christopher Lambert in the role of Connor MacLeod, trained by Ramírez (played by Sean Connery). The film merges plots from the past and present, moving from the Scottish Highlands of the 16th century to New York in the 1980s.

There is still a lot to know about the new Los Inmortales movie

Stahelski has offered a vague description of the plot: “We take it from the early 16th century in the Scottish Highlands to New York and Hong Kong. of the present and beyondand we see how it works. There are many opportunities for action. There is the possibility of playing a character that not many people have the opportunity to play. And it’s kind of love story, but not how you imagine. In John Wick I learned a lot about how to modify the narrative a little bit… another kind of myth.”

And about Cavill’s character, Stahelski added: “My argument to convince (Cavill) was: look, you have a guy who has lived more than 500 years. He is the last person in the world who would want to be in this situation.. So you can cover a pretty broad story arc with this character. And you can get into the shoes of a character who has trained for more than 500 years and has practiced various styles of martial arts…”.

In September, deadline reported that the WWE star Drew McIntyreoriginally from Ayrshire, Scotland, will play Angus MacLeod, brother of Cavill’s MacLeod. He joins Russell Crowe, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, Dave Bautista, Marisa Abela and Max Zhang in the reboot.

In August of last year, Stahelski suggested that the Immortals reboot could be the start of something big. “I think we have some very good elements now,” he said. “The trick is, when you have the motto ‘there can only be one left,’ you can’t kill everyone the first time.”

“Our story has a lot of the same characters and stuff like that,” Stahelski continued. “But we have also incorporated elements from all the television series, and we are trying to make a kind of prequel, an introduction to The Gatheringto have room to develop the property.”

In The Immortals, The Gathering is a call which forces immortal warriors to face each other in what is called the Game.

“I’ve been a fan of The Immortals since I was a kid,” Cavill said in instagram when the film was announced in 2021. “From the movies with all their ’80s glory set to Queen, to the TV series with an actor who looked a lot like one of my brothers. Not afraid of swords, and with a director as talented as Chad Stahelski at the helm, This is an opportunity like no other.“.

In April 2024, Cavill highlighted his training for the film, promising sword skills even more impressive than those shown in Netflix’s The Witcher. “If you thought you’d seen me use the sword before, you haven’t seen anything yet,” Cavill said.
