United States President Donald Trump — who skipped the Super Bowl and attended a party to watch the game in Florida — called Bad Bunny’s halftime performance “a slap in the face” and stated that “no one understands a word” of what the Puerto Rican music star was saying.
“The Super Bowl halftime show is absolutely terrible, one of the worst ever! It makes no sense, is an affront to America’s greatness, and does not represent our standards of success, creativity, or excellence,” Trump wrote in Truth Social. “This ‘show’ is just a ‘slap in the face’ to our country, which is setting new standards and records every day.”
Bad Bunny, who is originally from Puerto Rico, sang in Spanish, which apparently offended the president.
Trump’s criticism is not surprising; He previously said that Bad Bunny, who has spoken out against Immigration and Customs Enforcement, was a “terrible choice” for the halftime show.
The show seemed to make many other people happy, from fans in Santa Clara, California, to game viewing parties in Puerto Rico and across the country, where social media was abuzz with comments about the art displayed and the many stars who made cameos during the show.
