According to the annual report of the General Directorate of Epidemiology (DGE), the months of highest incidence corresponded to: 337 in August312 in September, 311 in March and May with 293 cases.

He specified that 2,906 were acquired by patients within the notifying unit and 294 imported, that is, they were acquired during health care outside the unit.

He stressed that, according to the diagnostic level, 1,424 were clinically defined and 1,776 confirmed by a microbiology laboratory.

Although the document did not specify by state, the main types of IAAS correspond to: ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP)urinary tract infection associated with urinary catheter (UTI-CU) and STI related to central catheter (STI-CC).

“These infections not only decrease the quality of life of affected patients, but also prolong hospital stays, contribute to antimicrobial resistance and increase mortality rates,” he concludes.
