Chery’s new brand (OMODA and JAECOO) prepares a revolution

Chery’s high-end division has revealed the details of the Exeed Exlantix ES. The brand, which will soon be available throughout Europe, like OMODA and JAECOO, does not stop in the evolution of its products. This midsize saloon, which seeks to carve out a niche in a highly competitive market, introduces discreet aesthetic changes to its exterior but bases its renovation on a very serious mechanical architecture and the deployment of top-level powertrain configurations.

At the exterior design level, the changes are subtle to maintain the identity of the current model. The extended range electric variant retains its specific front grille, while the 100% electric option maintains its adaptive lighting system. However, the real visual innovations serve functional and performance purposes, such as the revised rear bumper, an active spoiler, larger airflow channels in the doors and the possibility of adding six-piston fixed brake calipers.

Mechanical options for all tastes

At almost 5 meters long, the Exlantix ES competes in the highest section of the D segment.

In the purely mechanical section, the manufacturer is committed to maintaining continuity with respect to current specifications. The extended range electric version (EREV) uses a 1.5-liter turbocharged thermal block that acts exclusively as a power generator. This combustion engine can be associated with an electric drive on the rear axle that delivers 195 kW (265 HP), or with a double motor system with all-wheel drive that raises the combined power to 345 kW (469 HP). Both options declare a pure electric range of 255 kilometers, with the all-wheel drive model achieving a combined range of up to 1,645 kilometers (CLTC).

For their part, those who prefer the purely electric variant will have a range of configurations ranging from 185 kW (252 HP) to 353 kW (480 HP). Autonomies in this case can reach up to 880 kilometers depending on the battery and transmission combination chosen. In fact, the version recently registered with regulatory bodies equips a battery pack with a capacity of 97.7 kWh, homologating a maximum distance per charge of 860 kilometers.

Top-notch driving dynamics

Chery barely modifies the cabin, maintaining the good presentation that we already knew.

One of the pillars of Chery’s posh brand is its performance approach, championed by the Snow Leopard AWD 2.0 all-wheel drive system. This mechanical scheme combines an intelligent distribution of torque between both axles with a very elaborate suspension scheme, composed of a double wishbone on the front axle and a five-link multi-link configuration on the rear axle. Thanks to this technical framework, the Exlantix ES is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds, stopping completely from 100 km/h in a space of 34.8 meters.

Despite this deployment of engineering, the model faces the challenge of conquering the public in its local market, where its sales figures have been discreet in recent months, adding only 31 units in April 2026 compared to 147 in March. All the final equipment details will be announced coinciding with the start of purchase requests through the brand’s channels, scheduled for June 10. Regarding European plans, Exlantix has not yet specified how it will carry out the landing. It’s been a year since they announced their arrival. If Chery finally meets the deadlines, we could see the first units at the end of this year or the beginning of next year.
