It seems that the reports were true. After offering us some of the best Nintendo Switch games and now also Nintendo Switch 2, it seems that Nintendo has confirmed official price increases:
- Nintendo has announced a global price increase for Nintendo Switch 2 due to changes in market conditions and after evaluating the global economic situation.
- In the United States, Nintendo Switch 2 will go from $449.99 to $499.99.
- In Canada, the price will rise from C$629.99 to C$679.99.
- In Europe, the price on My Nintendo Store will increase from €469.99 to €499.99.
- The price increase in the United States, Canada and Europe will take effect on September 1, 2026.
- In Japan, the increase will arrive earlier, on May 25, 2026.
- The Japanese Nintendo Switch 2 will go from 49,980 yen to 59,980 yen.
- Nintendo has clarified that the Switch 2 multi-language model sold on My Nintendo Store Japan will maintain its current price.
Nintendo Switch price increases in Japan:
- Nintendo Switch OLED: from 37,980 yen to 47,980 yen.
- Standard Nintendo Switch: 32,978 yen to 43,980 yen.
- Nintendo Switch Lite: from 21,978 yen to 29,980 yen.
Nintendo Switch Online will also increase in price at least in Japan:
Individual Nintendo Switch Online:
- 1 month: from 306 yen to 400 yen.
- 3 months: 815 yen to 1,000 yen.
- 12 months: 2,400 yen to 3,000 yen.
Nintendo Switch Online Family:
- 12 months: 4,500 yen to 5,800 yen.
Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack:
- Individual 12 months: from 4,900 yen to 5,900 yen.
- Family 12 months: from 8,900 yen to 9,900 yen.
- Nintendo explains that these revisions respond to the medium and long-term impact of changes in the global market.
