This is how the exchange rate closed TODAY, May 26 – El Financiero


He dollar appreciated against the peso this Tuesday, May 26, thanks to corrections in the market while the United States and Iran give contradictory signals in their negotiation on a peace agreement.

Despite Donald Trump saying that the negotiation with Iran “was going to be a great deal for everyone,” US forces attacked missile launch sites and mining ships of the Islamic Republic.

The Americans defended having momentarily violated the truce with Iran for what they described as “self-defense” maneuvers. After the attacks, the Islamic Republic stated that US bases in the area will never be safe again.

How much does the peso lose against the dollar this Tuesday?

The peso depreciated 0.08 percent against the dollar, so the exchange rate stood at 17.29 units, 1 cent more compared to the close of Monday, May 25.


“The dollar advances due to a correction. Likewise, the gain occurs due to a slight increase in risk aversion“, given the persistent tensions in the Middle East and the uncertainty about the future of negotiations between the United States and Iran,” said Gabriela Siller, director of economic analysis at Banco Base.

The Banamex bank reported that the dollar sells for 17.72 pesoswhile the purchase price is 16.76 units for each greenback.

In the money market, the yield on the 10-year bond for the United States is 4.49 percent, while the 10-year bond in Mexico remains at a level of 9.35 percent.

Other emerging currencies that were in loss territory were the Colombian peso with 0.80 percent; the argentine peso with 0.68 percent; thai baht with 0.53 percent; the south african rand with 0.47 percent, and the indian rupee with 0.47 percent.
