The electric motorcycle is going to be the solution to ride the field. At least this is the important brand

The electric motorcycle is going to be the solution to ride the field. At least this is seen by one of the most important brands in the sector, Zero Motorcycles. And it has recently made an impressive deployment with the new range of motorcycles ‘offroad’, the X line series. And, although Zero Motorcycles already had electric motorcycles to circulate outside the asphalt, they were not 100% country: the existing DSR, DS and FX have a more trail orientation. The new X Line are authentic enduro motorcycles.

And it is that a few days ago, Zero Motorcycles presented in an enviable environment (the facilities of Rocco’s Ranch in Barcelona) the X Line range that consists of two models: Zero XB (cyclomotor) and Zero XE (equivalent to 125cc). Both are enrolled, which makes them legal, we roll through the black asphalt or by the earth. With both mounts, Zero wants to respond to users of any age.

Democratization of electric motorcycles

The brand ensures that in the next two years they intend to launch at least six models of electric motorcycles whose price is below 10,000 euros, allowing the ‘world’ of electric motorcycles as user number of users.

Well, the new Zero XB and Zero XE are two of them. But let’s leave prices for the end. These new XB and XE respond to the spirit of 100% field motorcycles: they are minimalists, with the fair equipment and necessary to be also used on a day -to -day basis. The chassis is perimeter and is performed in 6061 aluminum, which makes it light and rigid.

The Zero XB is the model equivalent to a cyclomotor: a 7.5 kW (10 hp) engine has been installed that offers a torque of 42 nm, enough to allow the 63 kg that weighs this XB can ‘fly’. As a good cyclomotor that is, the speed is limited to 45 km/h. The battery, meanwhile, has 2.4 kWh capacity and is removable: in that way, the recharge will be simpler and we can also have another replacement to exchange it if we need it (ideal in case we want to spend many hours ‘giving it’ in a circuit). Zero says the battery can reach 75 km of autonomy.

For its part, the Zero XE would correspond to a 125 cm3 motorcycle, which makes us drive it with an A1 card. The engine goes to the 11 KW ‘legal’ although in Zero they say it has ‘power peaks’ up to 15.5 kW (about 20 hp). That launches to the XE to 85 km/h, a respectable figure to circulate on roads, while in the asphalt it will defend between traffic. By the way, that both the XE and the XB have a reverse, a very practical function in general, and in particular if we make enduro routes.

The battery, logically, has more capacity than that of the XB: this time it offers 4.3 kWh, allowing this Xe to perform up to 100 km, yes, an average of 50 km/h. This greater battery capacity and greater engine performance make this XE heavier than the XB: Zero declares 101 kg. However, it is a very good figure for a motorcycle of these characteristics.

By the way, both install a 2.4 ” TFT display on the left side of the handlebar in which information is offered to the motor/battery. We will also visualize data such as speed or mileage. A button is included from which to handle accessories such as lights or intermittent and control the 3 power contribution modes (Eco, Standard and Sport) of which both engines have.

Cycle part adapted to the field

Obviously, as motorcycles ‘offroad’ they are, the number one premise is to contribute great behavior when leaving the asphalt. Both incorporate long -distance suspensions (inverted forks in front and monoamortigators behind) capable of supporting size jumps. For example, the XB offers 200 mm travel on the front wheel and 176 in the rear, while the XE goes to 220 in front and 248 mm behind.

The XB is somewhat more compact: not only for what we have previously commented with respect to its motor/drum set, but because it installs 19 -inch diameter wheels on both axes, something that allows a living handling. For its part, the XE responds more faithfully to a ‘hardesto spirit’, riding regular measures in the sector, such as a 21 -inch front wheel and a rear of 18.

Much more than simple field motorcycles

Well, it must be said that these Zero XB and XE offer some functions above those expected of a motorcycle ‘offroad’ to use, something that speaks in favor of the quality of these contained price motorcycles. And, let’s talk about them now: the XB (cyclomotor) goes to 4,680 euros and the XE (125 cc) at 6,770 euros.

In addition to what we have already mentioned (which is enough), what else do they offer? Well, a Full-Led light system, with a double front focus of futuristic design. At the security level, as tensile control and inclination sensor that cuts the motor current in case of detecting a fall. It also has slope control (to start if you need to touch the brake) and cruise speed control (ideal for not being pending radars).

In short, two field motorcycles that can help return to the two wheels to the rural environment where they left a few years ago (in reality today it is quite complicated to roll with motorcycles through the field in much of our geography) thanks to being sustainable with the environment: they do not pollute or make noise.
