Nintendo will give away Switch Online subscriptions and game download codes in this new collaboration with schools


It seems that Nintendo wants to bring some of the best Nintendo Switch games and now also Nintendo Switch 2 to schools, as we learned today. Nintendo of America has been associated with the Interstate Scholastic Esports Alliance (ISEA) to make video game competitions more social, accessible and rewarding.

Starting this fall, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Splatoon 3 They will be used in tournaments and school events for students from 4th grade to 12th gradereaching more than 80,000 students in 23 US states. Here are the details of the collaboration:

    • Nintendo and ISEA seek to offer students a new way to meet and compete in a fun and friendly way.
    • As part of the collaboration, Nintendo will provide Nintendo Switch Online memberships and free digital game download codes.
    • Danielle Johnson, president of ISEA, highlighted that video games can be a fun and community experience, accessible to all students, even those without prior experience, helping to connect those who do not participate in other competitive activities.
    • These school programs improve attendance and academic performance, as well as foster healthy, lasting relationships.
    • In November 2023, Nintendo of America reorganized its official guidelines and application portal to facilitate the organization of small, non-profit community tournaments with games of its intellectual property.
    • Partnering with ISEA is another way to strengthen and support a connected and engaged gaming community.
    • Bill Trinen, vice president of Player Experience and Product at Nintendo of America, said they want kids to celebrate or discover new passions through memorable cooperative and competitive experiences, open to everyone.

No tournament results yetbut the program is already underway. In October 2025, the Interstate Scholastic Esports Alliance (ISEA) began distributing download codes and subscriptions Nintendo Switch Online to their state leagues for winter season (December-February).
