Mazda has chosen an unusual setting to present one of its most important models of the year. The new CX-6e, its great electric bet for Europe, has debuted at Mazda House, an immersive exhibition on Japanese culture installed at the Ortega Foundation. … Marañón de Madrid and open to the public throughout the month of May. A space that, according to Nacho Beaumond, president and CEO of Mazda Spain, “was born from the idea of bringing Japan closer to people, just as we saw in the House of Japan in London. “We want to tell the culture, people and traditions of Japan.”
That cultural framework serves as the backdrop for a strategic launch. The CX-6e is now available for order and the first deliveries will arrive in September. The brand hopes to register around 1,300 units in 2026, an ambitious goal in an increasingly competitive segment.
A large SUV
César Ortiz, business development director, summarizes the model’s approach: «The CX-6e has aerodynamic lines with an evolution of the Kodo design. It measures 4.85 meters and has a wheelbase of 2.90, which gives it very outstanding habitability. The design maintains Mazda’s characteristic lighting signature and opts for clean and fluid proportions, with a range of seven colors always combined with a black roof.
The interior also seeks to differentiate itself. The brand offers three upholstery options and a technological display that is unusual in this price range: up to six screens, including a 26.45-inch central screen, a large Head-Up Display and two digital rear-view mirrors. The audio system, with 23 speakers – some integrated into the headrests – aims directly at premium comfort. In addition, it incorporates 15 driving assistance systems as standard.
The range is structured in two finishes: Takumi and Takumi Plus, with prices between 46,200 and 49,200 euros. There is also a Takumi variant with a 21-inch wheel for 47,400 euros.
Motor and battery
The CX-6e uses a rear-wheel drive layout and an electric motor with 258 HP (190 kW) and 290 Nm. The battery is LFP type with 78 kWh capacity, a choice that prioritizes durability and cost over energy density. The approved autonomy reaches 484 km in the combined cycle.
Is it a fair figure compared to rivals that exceed 600 km? Ortiz answers bluntly: «We are looking for a balance between price and battery. To increase the autonomy the price skyrockets. In this car, charging speed has been prioritized over autonomy because it makes stops much faster. “The key is balance.”
Ultra-fast charging
Mazda has placed special emphasis on charging efficiency. The CX-6e supports up to 195 kW in direct current, allowing you to go from 10 to 80% in 24 minutes, or from 30 to 80% in just 15. In alternating current, the maximum power is 11 kW.
In terms of performance, the SUV accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds and reaches a maximum speed of 185 km/h. The trunk offers 468 liters, to which an additional 80 liters are added in a front compartment.
One of the CX-6e’s strongest arguments is its residual value. According to data presented by the brand, the model leads its category in value retention at 36 months or 15,000 km per year, above direct competitors such as Tesla Model Y, Toyota bZ4X or Volkswagen ID.4. In a market where the total cost of ownership weighs more and more, this information can influence many purchasing decisions.

Karine Roubaud, marketing and communication director, underlines the connection between the model and the brand’s philosophy: «Mazda is a company with more than 100 years of history. The exhibition helps to understand the essence of Japanese culture that represents our values. “Our vehicles are the expression of that Japanese engineering, and that is why we present the CX-6e here.”
With a competitive price, a well-equipped interior, benchmark fast charging and a balanced approach between autonomy and cost, the new Mazda CX‑6e arrives to compete for a key space in the European electric market. And it does so with a narrative that mixes technology, culture and business strategy.
