The fight for scoring title finished hot at the top; the last day of the Regular Phase of Opening 2025 came with three forwards tied with 11 scores, Paulinho, Armando Gonzalez and Joao Pedro They were looking to be the scoring champion.
The Apertura 2025 concluded with a three-way tie at the top of the scoring table. Paulinho from Toluca, Armando González from Chivas and Joao Pedro from Atlético San Luis finished with the same number of scores (12) after a close competition that lasted until Matchday 17.
Paulinho led Toluca’s attack with consistent production throughout the tournament. His first goal came on matchday 3 against Tigres, followed by another on matchday 4 against Juárez. He later scored on matchday 9 against Chivas and stood out with a hat trick on matchday 10 against Rayados. He then added a goal against Mazatlán on matchday 11, a double against León on matchday 12, the same against Querétaro on matchday 13, one more against Pachuca on matchday 15 and closed his account with a goal against América on matchday 17.

On behalf of Chivas, Armando González maintained an outstanding participation in the rival area. He opened his record with a double against San Luis on matchday 3, and later converted on matchday 6 against Xolos. He also scored against América in the 8th and Necaxa in the 10th. On the 12th he scored against Pumas and repeated in the 13th against Mazatlán. His most productive performance was the hat trick in the Clásico Tapatío against Atlas on matchday 15. He closed his quota with a goal against Pachuca on matchday 16 and another against Rayados on matchday 17.
Joao Pedro, from Atlético San Luis, was the third protagonist of the tie. He scored from the first matchday against León and repeated on matchday 3 against Chivas. He achieved a double on matchday 5 against Puebla and repeated the formula on matchday 6 against Querétaro. He scored a double again against Santos on matchday 9, added a goal against Atlas on matchday 13, another double against Necaxa on matchday 15 and closed with a score against Tigres on matchday 17.

SHARED GOAL CHAMPIONSHIPS IN SHORT TOURNAMENTS
This triple tie represents the fourth time in the history of short tournaments in which the scoring title is shared between three or more players.
The previous ones occurred in Winter 1997, when Luis Hernández, Paulo César Chávez and Sebastián Abreu closed with 12 goals; in the Clausura 2005, with Kléber Boas, Matías Vuoso and Walter Gaitán tied with 11; and in the Clausura 2006, with Sebastián Abreu, Salvador Cabañas and Kléber Boas, also with 11 goals.

MEXICAN GOAL CHAMPIONS IN SHORT TOURNAMENTS
With Armando González, another Mexican forward was proclaimed scoring champion in short tournaments. Among them are Luis García (Atlante) with 12 goals in Winter 1997, Cuauhtémoc Blanco (América) with 16 in Winter 1998, Jesús Olalde (Pumas) with 15 in Winter 1999 and Everaldo Begines (León) with 14 in Summer 2000. Also notable were Jared Borgetti (Santos), champion in two consecutive tournaments: Winter 2000 with 17 goals and Summer 2001 with 13.
Other Mexicans who won the crown were Omar Bravo (Chivas) in the Clausura 2007 with 11 goals, Javier Hernández (Chivas) in the Bicentenario 2010 with 10, Ángel Reyna (América) in the Clausura 2013 with 13, Alan Pulido (Chivas) in the Apertura 2019 with 12, Henry Martín (América) in the Clausura 2023 with 14 and Uriel Antuna (Cruz Azul) in the Clausura 2024 with 8 goals.
