If you are a user of iOSyou may love Apple’s own apps. However, many people, out of convenience, habit, or a greater number of reviews, use Google Maps by default, so, despite having Apple Maps, they opt for the first option.
However, there are certain types of functions that we only see in the iOS app, among which one that Google would have pointed out stands out, and that now also works on iPhones, meaning that, if you did not use it because of this, you may consider it again.
New in Google Maps for iOS
Google Maps for iPhone has started doing something we all wanted without having to ask for it: automatically remember where you left the car. Before you had to mark the parking lot by hand; Now, if you connect your phone to the car via Bluetooth, USB or CarPlay, the app leaves a pin when you park and shows it to you when you open the application, something that Apple Maps already does, so if you’ve ever tried it, you’ll know what we’re talking about.
The idea is basic, but very practical, since when you turn off the engine and walk away from the vehicle (that is, it loses connection with the iPhone, and therefore knows that you are gone), Maps detects disconnection and saves location. That marker stays for up to 48 hours or until you start and drive again, so you won’t have to worry about erasing anything by hand. If you customized the car icon in the app, you will see that icon instead of the typical “P”, a small detail that adds convenience. Of course, if you do not activate Bluetooth the next time, it will not recognize it, and it could tell you the previous time, so it is important to take this into account, as well as if several people use the car, it will not be able to detect that it has moved.
For now the function It is coming better to iPhone than to Androidwhere users have to do this manually, which makes it much more tedious. However, for those who use iOS, it is a wonder that we did not have this app yet, since looking for the car after a night out, in a shopping center or in an unknown city, could be very boring without this.

It is not a technological revolution (since Maps and other apps had it), but it is one of those small improvements that save time and frustration, especially if we already used Google Maps for convenience, and we did not want to have several at the same time, or even an AirTag that did this function in parallel.
In summary, if you tend to forget where you parked or you just appreciate technology doing small tasks for you, check your Google Maps settings to make sure car connections are active and enjoy not having to play ‘find your car’ next time.
Furthermore, the function respects simplicity: It does not overwhelm you with notifications, it only appears when you open it and need the information. If you are one of those who changes cars or mobile phones frequently, check permissions and connections so that everything works correctly, since you may have it available, and you still don’t know it.
Leave us a comment if you’ve already tried it, or if you just found out it exists. It is very convenient, I assure you, you will not be able to live without that function.
