Mexico City. The Secretary of Health, David Kershenobich, assured that only one case of H3N2 influenza has been recorded in Mexico, and stated that there is no danger of a pandemic.
In the morning of the town, he explained that the so-called “super flu” circulates in Europe and the United States, and that it is prevented with the influenza vaccine, available in the country.
“In Mexico we have registered only one case of this variant, but paying attention to the call of the World Health Organization and, above all, we want to point out that it is prevented with the influenza vaccine that we have available in Mexico. It is not a special variant,” he stressed.
Kershenobich called on the population to get the vaccine. “This variant has the characteristic of being more contagious, but it responds well to the usual treatment of influenza, so that we have enough vaccine and we have sufficient supply.”
Therefore, it does not represent any problem for the country at this time. The vaccine we have in Mexico has been applied since last year and is completely produced in Mexico,” he stressed.
He indicated that the only case was treated approximately a month ago and is stable. She was from Mexico City and was an 80-year-old woman.
He asked that anyone who has the flu wear a face mask to avoid contagion.
“We do not have any event with this variant, neither outpatient nor hospitalized,” stated the Secretary of Health.
