Paizo has an exciting roadmap for Pathfinder 2E. A new leak has revealed that the company also responsible for Starfinder’s space adventures is preparing a book set for 2027 that will give wings to the imagination of hundreds of Dungeon Masters with unpublished campaigns, adaptations, additional information about the world of Golarion and items to use on the table. Altogether, we are talking about a handful of new features that are already generating debate in the groups dedicated to Pathfinder 2E due to the details and features they could include; a future plan that represents a significant contrast with Dungeons & Dragonswhose latest news has caused frustration among many of his fans.

Walking Tigers.
It is important to note that information regarding the new Pathfinder 2E books is not official yet. The data, as indicated in EN World, arises due to a leak from Barnes & Noble, an online book sales website that has revealed the future publication of Walking Tigers (March 3, 2027), Lost Omens: The Unseen World (January 6, 2027), Legacy of the Forge (February 3, 2027) and Chronicles of the Pathfinder Society (March 3, 2027). As is usual with the launch of new role-playing products, all these volumes will be distributed first in English; Here we will have to wait if Devir, who has the distribution rights in our language, decides to bring any of the new features of the TTRPG.

A good way to start 2027
Either way, Pathfinder 2E players have good reason to look forward to the new year. As we noted in the previous paragraph, the books discovered through the Barnes & Noble website are scheduled to be published in the first quarter of 2027. And, as we detail below, there are proposals for both those who look for new adventures as for those who prefer learn more about the world of Golarion:
- Walking Tigers. A 256-page adventure designed to take Pathfinder 2E characters from level 1 to level 11. “A disturbing conspiracy is unraveling in the heart of Hwanggot, but those accused of orchestrating it are the wrong ones! Delve into two different timelines in this adventure as investigators seeking to unravel the conspiracy in the past and defend themselves in a trial in the present. Can you uncover the truth and prove your innocence?” reads the title. description.
- Lost Omens: The Unseen World. A book that explores the concept of spirits in the world of Golarion and how its different cultures have learned to interact with “the reality that exists beyond their normal senses.” Basically, it is a volume that allows you to delve a little deeper into the very varied planet of Pathfinder.
- Legacy of the Forge. A set of items and equipment to introduce into Pathfinder 2E campaigns, with bloodthirsty swords, staffs engraved with runes, inexhaustible bags of tricks and various upgrades. “Smart items and artifact archetypes kick off entire adventures, while new treasures, from draconic grafts to mysterious magical hearts, are ready to accompany you along the way.”
- Chronicles of the Pathfinder Society. Six classic adventures from the Pathfinder Society (an organized gaming program that began back in 2008) that will be revived in 2027, adapting to Pathfinder 2E. All of them offer small adventures for levels 1 to 6 and can be played as oneshots or be introduced directly into a larger campaign.

A contrast with Dungeons & Dragons
Right now, more than one player is celebrating the fact that Pathfinder 2E will be expanded with new adventures, adaptations of classic missions, and additions to introduce more variety and color to role-playing games. For its part, Dungeons & Dragons has been receiving criticism in recent weeks for the features of its new D&D Beyond Dropswhich also has a good handful of defenders, and the decision by Hasbro (owners of Wizards of the Coast) to promote an evolution of the TTRPG to gradually turn it into a “live service.” Basically, part of the strategy around the world’s largest role-playing game focuses on publishing digital content. And, while it is true that the team will continue publishing physical books, more than one player has decided to switch to Pathfinder 2E, the second most popular TTRPG, precisely because of the bad practices of Wizards of the Coast.
In fact, the latter is demonstrated with posts like the one EternalNiyt shared on Reddit: “Looking for advice – Trying Pathfinder 2E for the first time,” the message reads. “I’ve been running a campaign for over a year in D&D5.5e, but I’ve decided stop supporting WotC and now we are looking for a new game system. I’ve been researching and Pathfinder 2E is one of the systems we’re considering.” Additionally, users like SlightPackage2856 show that there are fans of Dungeons & Dragons who, without abandoning the TTRPG completely, are moving away from their subscription service: “As many others have expressed above, I’m not passionate about never own any of the content you pay for via D&D Beyond; Considering the money you pay, it doesn’t seem like a lot to ask to be able to download a PDF of the books you’ve purchased.”
We are not exactly talking about a mass exodussince one of the benefits of Dungeons and Dragons is that players can continue living adventures in its fantasy universe without the need to spend money on subscription services or digital content. However, more than one has been curious about Pathfinder 2E because of its game system, the world of Golarion and the fact that Paizo operates under a Open RPG Creative Licensethus making its core mechanics, classes, monsters and items royalty-free. And, with the adventures promised for 2027, we may see many role-playing fans excited to try Pathfinder 2E.
