The day we have been waiting for has arrived. Apple introduced iOS 27 last June, and now we have the public beta available. Anyone who wants dare to try the new things before anyone else can do it. At Applesfera we are going to tell you exactly what to expect before you hit the install button.
Beta 3 for developers is a pretty solid foundation for what’s coming to the public now, so the jump shouldn’t come as a surprise. However, it is still software in beta phase and may have its bugssomething that should not be lost sight of even if the desire to try iOS 27 is great.
What to expect from the iOS 27 public beta
A beta is an operating system in development. It is on its way to its final phase, but it is not the stable version that will arrive for everyone in the fall. That translates to The battery may perform somewhat worse than with iOS 26some applications may fail occasionally and some occasional crashes may appear. all this It is being corrected with successive betas that Apple publishes every one or two weeks. So if you join the iOS 27 public beta, you have to update the system with some frequency.
Before installing it, make a full backup of iPhone to computerwith iTunes on Windows or with Finder on Mac. Save it well and do not overwrite it until you are sure that you are permanently on iOS 27. We recommend backing up to a computer instead of iCloud. This way, if you go back to iOS 26, you will avoid compatibility problems with iCloud copies created in a later version.

Public and developer beta: the same version with another calendar
There is something that always causes confusion every summer. Public beta number 1 of iOS 27 is based on developer beta number 3, so it arrives with a good part of the road covered. The software is practically the same in both programs. What changes is the calendar: the public beta arrives with a margin of safety regarding the developer, in case a serious problem appears that Apple prefers to solve before opening the system to more people.

How to install the iOS 27 public beta step by step
The process is the same every year. You just have to follow these steps:
- From Safari, go to beta.apple.com on the iPhone where you want to install iOS 27.
- Sign in with your Apple account and accept the terms of the beta program.

- Open Settings > General > Software Update. Tap Beta Updates. > Select iOS 27 Public Beta.
- Return to the previous screen and wait a few seconds for the update to appear.

- Press Download and install and follow the on-screen instructions.
The entire process usually takes between half an hour and an hour, depending on your connection, the iPhone model, and the load on Apple’s servers at the time.
What happens when the final release arrives
Over the next few weeks, Apple will publish a new beta every two weeks. Even in the month of August the pace is usually increased to a new beta every week. Our advice is that you do not stay halfway in an old beta: if you deactivate the beta updates, the system remains stuck in that version, with the bugs it had at that time uncorrected.
If at any point the experience does not convince you, the only way to truly return to iOS 26 is to restore the iPhone completely from the computer, it is not enough to deactivate the beta option in Settings.

As the final launch approaches, Apple will publish a final beta called Release Candidatewhich usually coincides with the presentation of the new iPhone 18 Pro. Installing that Release Candidate as soon as it is available has a reward, because it is practically the same version that will later reach the entire public, only with a few days of advantage. Once you have it installed, go to Settings, Software Update, and select that you no longer want to receive beta updates, to permanently stay in the stable program.
There are a few weeks ahead in which We will see how Apple is polishing iOS 27 beta by beta. It is one of the most exciting times of the year for those of us who enjoy testing new features, seeing how features evolve and discovering the changes that will make it to the final version.
With the backup made and being aware that there may still be some failure or greater battery consumption, all that remains is to take the step and start enjoying iOS 27 before its official launch.
