You may have had a problem like this when playing some of the best games on Nintendo Switch and now also on Nintendo Switch 2, as we have learned. You already know that Nintendo had serious “drift” problems in the Joy-Con of the original Switch. For Switch 2, the company claimed to have solved that problem, and so far the majority of users drift has not been reported.
A Japanese gamer claims to have used the Switch 2 Pro Controller for over 350 hours. Instead of drifting, he noticed that The left joystick felt a bit “sticky”. When he checked the controller, he found small particles accumulated around the base of the joystick. Given this, he decided to take action:
- After opening the controller, he discovered that the joystick cap seemed to rub against the base ring.
- This friction would be causing wear and tear on the material and small flakes or residue.
- According to Nintendo documentation, the base ring should be made of a wear-resistant material.
- However, the user believes that Nintendo would have used a softer material to reduce the noise of the joystick.
- A simple wipe removed both the particles and the sticky feel.
- For now it does not seem to be a serious or widespread problem.
- The case is not related to the drift problem.
- If other users notice a sticky feeling on the joystick, they can clean it or send it to Nintendo for repair.
