Benjamín Mora is no longer coach of the Wuhan Three Towns of the Chinese Super League. As Súper Deportivo learned, the decision was made by mutual agreement and is based on the fact that there were no coincidences in various points of the sports project, beyond the results obtained on the field.
The separation between the Mexican coach and the Chinese club’s board of directors does not respond solely to numbers. Although the results were not as expected, the main reason for the departure lies in the differences over the direction the team should take and the way to build the project in the medium and long term.
Both parties agreed that it was best to end the relationship early so that both the coach and the club could look for options that best fit their respective visions.
Brief passage through China
Benjamín Mora arrived at Wuhan Three Towns in December 2025, becoming the first Mexican coach to coach in the Chinese Super League. His hiring generated expectations, since the club had been league champions in 2022 under the direction of Serbian Aleksandar Janković.
However, the Mexican strategist’s time on the Wuhan bench was brief. He directed just 10 official matches in the 2026 season of the Chinese Super League, with a balance that did not meet the expectations of the club or the coach himself.
Mora’s career
Benjamín Mora, 45, has experience in Mexican soccer and had previously coached teams such as Atlas and Querétaro. His arrival in China represented an important challenge in his career, seeking to establish himself in Asian football.
Wuhan Three Towns, for their part, will have to look for a new helmsman to return the team to the path of success. The club, which was champion just four years ago, is going through a restructuring process following the departure of several key figures and changes in Chinese football’s investment policy.
With this experience in Asia, Benjamín Mora returns to the free trainer market. It is expected that in the coming weeks he will evaluate offers, both from Mexican soccer and other international leagues, to continue his career on the bench.
The exit by mutual agreement allows both parties to close the cycle without conflicts and seek new horizons that better suit their sporting objectives.
